Lunar New Year

As a Chinese, you can’t miss and join the special activities during Lunar New Year. The major activities are like buying new clothes, getting red envelopes, visiting the temples, and so on. There are some different meanings about the activities in the important festival.

Wearing new clothes symbolize the new start of the New Year. It’s really special to wear new clothes to bring luck on the first day of the year. Besides, getting red envelopes is the most important part to me in the special day. Red envelope is an especial thing in Lunar New Year, and it’s very different from other culture. On the other hand, to visit temples is an essential activity. It’s really important for families because they trust it would bring safe and well in this whole year.

I think that new clothes, red envelopes, and temples enrich my life during Lunar New Year. I can’t lose one of all, and every idea is meaningful to me. New clothes symbolize the new start in the New Year, red envelopes bring happy atmosphere, and temples show our expectation. To sum up, Lunar New Year is an important festival to Chinese people.

Compare Taipei and Kaohsiung

Taipei is in the north of Taiwan, and Kaohsiung is in the south of Taiwan. It’s easy to compare with the two cities because one is in the north and another is in the south. I observe some differences between Taipei and Kaohsiung, such as population, temperature, and rainfall.

As we know, Taipei and Kaohsiung are the most famous cities in Taiwan. Both Taipei and Kaohsiung are in high population density. I think maybe Taipei a little higher than Kaohsiung. To compare with weather, Taipei is always cold and humid while Kaohsiung is always hot and drier.

The two big cities in Taiwan are the same when we discuss the population density because both Taipei and Kaohsiung are in high. In contrast, the weather is very different from the population density. There are lower temperature and higher rainfall in Taipei, but in Kaohsiung is opposite.

Teacher Elaine

At the first time I saw Elaine, it’s not a good impression. Maybe she was so tired that she didn’t give me a smile. After talking, I really liked the coworker in the cram school where I had a part-time job. My business was to help her on her class, and she never put me under pressure. It made me comfortable when I was there.

Elaine was not only my good coworker, but also my good teacher. She was really nice, and she always told me if I had any problems she would help me. I always felt friendly to her because she graduated from Providence University. She was also English major. I could learned many teaching skills from her, and I could knew much useful information about English.

I was glad to meet Elaine and learned much experience from her. She was a kind woman because she gave me suggestions and told me how to do in my business. I didn’t have older sister or older brother, but I thought she was just like my older sister who helped me friendly.

Taiwan

I know many people in the world don’t know Taiwan, but I will tell you Taiwan is a beautiful island. On the map, Taiwan is really a little country but it concludes everything that you think. Taiwan is known as beautiful scenery, spectacular mountains, famous technology, delicious food, and so on.

Isn’t it amazing that the little island on the map is relative to such famous things in the world. There are many foreigner would come to Taiwan to visit our beautiful places, such as climbing Yushan Mountain, and seeing sun rise at Ali Mountain. Besides, you must know the famous technology products in Taiwan, like notebook, cell phone, and iPod. If you use products that made in Taiwan, you must have to know about Taiwan.

The island is very tiny on the map, but it includes other countries does not have. Geographically, the sea is around the island, the weather is comfortable, and landscape is beautiful. To sum up, the wonderful island is my country, and I am very proud of Taiwan because all of the great things.

A Dream

In my childhood, I had a dream to be a costume designer, and I always dreamed my dream will come true. When I played Barbie Dolls, I dreamed of being an outstanding costume designer who designed many beautiful costumes. At that time, I didn't think so much but just wished my dream to come true when I grew up. I am very innocent when I was a little girl.

I know I am far from my dream. When I chose to enter senior high school, I had started to be removed from my dream. Besides, I major English in Providence University now, so it is impossible to achieve it. If the dream is easy to come true, that is not a dream. Although my dream can’t come true, I am not sad because I had dreamed.

In my point of view, I think dream can’t come true. I know my dream is a big challenge to a girl like me, but I can change my dream to different goals. I can’t be other people’s costume designer, but I can be the only costume designer of myself. Even though it is just a dream, but is really a beautiful dream in my mind.

Attend college for different reasons

Nowadays, most people had attended to college in their learning life. Maybe, everyone attend to college for many different kinds of reasons, I think people almost have three reasons in the same. They want to learn more knowledge they have ever known, to get a diploma from colleges, and to get a good job after they graduate from college.

We know learning is equal to everyone, despite you are old or young you can learn. Many people like to attend to college to learn more knowledge and find their interest then cultivate it. College is the place for you to prepare your skills before you enter society. There are much information and source in college, if you use it properly and you’ll have many gains after you graduating from colleges.

Of course, some people attend to college have the same reason to get a college diploma. They attend to the college to learn for four years, and then they’ll get a diploma to confirm they graduate from colleges. Because of the diploma is connected to their career and is an important confirm for them. They struggle to get the diploma, and spend much spirit and totally four years in colleges.

I think the most important reason to attend to college is that they want to get a good job in the future. They spend four years to learn some knowledge and cultivate their skills to face the problems in the complex society. If they concentrate on their business in colleges, they’ll get many gains and will be easy to get a good job in the future. No pain, no gain. If you want your future to comfort, you have to pay more right now.

Connect to the three reasons, I think they just want their life after gradate from college to be better and comfortable. People want to learn more knowledge not only because they like to learn new knowledge, but also because they want to get a diploma. To get a diploma just because they want to get a good job in the future. To get a good job just because they want their life and family live at high quality life.

Cell Phones

Cell phones are essential to everyone who lives in the modern life. Not only adults, but also children all need it. Not only enterprisers, but also employees all have it. Not only teachers, but also students all possess it. Because cell phones have many advantages, many people can’t live without it. It is convenient that a small machine contains many functions, no wonder cell phone is popular to people in the world.

Everybody knows undoubtedly that cell phones are the machines that use to communicate with people. When you face some emergent events, you can make a phone call to your parents or friends immediately. When you want to invite someone to have a date, you can send a message that is acceptable. Of course, you can have a chat with anyone and no matter you use a phone call or a message that will be OK. You can use it to keep in touch with family or friends or anyone you like.

However, cell phones have some special functions that you have to know. Cell phones also can take some notes that you are afraid of missing it, and cell phone will remind you. Isn’t cell phone considerate? Besides, you can plan some schedules in the cell phone and you won’t forget it because of the smart machine. It is the most important thing to students that cell phone can give you a morning call, and you only have to order the time you want to get up.

As the progress of technology, cell phone contains some other functions like cameras and it’s handy than a camera. Many people use cell phones to replace larger cameras, and use it to take some pictures to record their daily life. Now you can see many young people use it to take pictures and share pictures with friends on their blog. Despite anytime or everywhere, you can take pictures to record something amaze to you or special to you.

The influence of cell phones is omnipresent to everyone nowadays. No one can live without it because it affects us too much. The smart machine can communicate, take notes, take pictures, and so on. In no doubt, cell phone is one of the great inventions in the world. Cell phones bring convenience that people would never think before, but it really happens in our life. People always create miracles that we never ever think and never ever see. I guess cell phones will smaller than we see nowadays and will have more functions some day.
